Finding the Stones

Each stone sits in a container, and each container sits in its own structure. This is where they are and how to open them.

At a glance#

You don't have to take a stone out to use it. Every container except the Orb gives you its stone's power while you hold it (or wear it, for the Eye). You only need the bare stone to put it in the Infinity Gauntlet.

Finding the structures#

There's only one of each stone structure per world. Five of them are placed like strongholds, at a random angle on a ring around 0, 0. They end up roughly this far from the origin. Vormir's Edge is the odd one out: it's always in the same spot.

StructureStoneWhereDistance from 0, 0
Morag TemplePower StoneMorag, on the ocean floorabout 18,500 to 35,300 blocks
Norse VillageSpace StoneOverworldabout 18,500 to 35,300 blocks
Aether ChamberReality StoneSvartalfheim, underground around Y −60about 4,400 to 8,400 blocks
Vormir's EdgeSoul StoneVormir, always at X 0 to 271, Z 0 to 191Right next to 0, 0. The Soul Guardian is at 212 121 99
Sanctum SanctorumTime StoneOverworldabout 7,300 to 14,000 blocks
SanctuaryMind StoneThe Endabout 7,300 to 14,000 blocks

To find them:

  • Vormir doesn't need finding. Go to infinity:vormir and head for X 212, Z 99. The cliff is built around you as the chunks load.
  • Explorer maps from the Soul Guardian on Vormir (further down).
  • The JEI info page on each stone and container says where it is.
  • /locate with cheats on: /locate structure infinity:morag_temple (or norse_village, aether, sanctum, sanctuary) while you're in the right dimension.
Decoys

Each of these structures except Vormir's Edge has a rare fake copy (1% chance per region) that looks the same but has an empty frame or stand. If the container isn't there, you might be in a fake one.

Getting to the other planets#

Vormir, Morag and Svartalfheim don't have portal blocks. There are four ways to get there:

  • The Space Stone. Unlock Teleport GUI, type the dimension (infinity:vormir, infinity:morag or infinity:svartelheim) and some coordinates, and walk through.
  • The Tesseract. Right-click it to jump through the dimensions one after another until you reach the one you want.
  • Ad Astra. Fly there in a Tier 4 rocket.
  • Cosmic Horizons. The planets are in its Marvel solar system.

Coordinates and what to expect on each planet are on Dimensions and Travel.

Stone by stone#

  • Power Stone: go to Morag. The temple is underwater and has dispensers full of Arrows of Harming VII. Take the Orb off its stand and unlock it (see the Orb).
  • Space Stone: go to the Norse Village and take the Tesseract out of its item frame. Unlock Force Field and then the Teleport GUI.
  • Reality Stone: go to Svartalfheim and dig down to the Aether Chamber. Malekith guards the Aether.
  • Soul Stone: get a Best Friend's Soul, then go to Vormir (around X 212, Z 99) and trade with the Soul Guardian.
  • Time Stone: the Eye of Agamotto is on an armor stand in the Sanctum. Wear it on your chest or in the Curios necklace slot, use Open Eye, then Remove Time Stone.
  • Mind Stone: the Scepter hangs in a glow item frame in the Sanctuary, out in the End.

The Soul Stone and the Soul Guardian#

A soul for a soul. The first time you kill one of your own tamed pets (a tamed wolf, cat or parrot, or a tamed horse, donkey, mule or llama) you get a Best Friend's Soul with the lore "How Could You". You only get one per player.

The Soul Guardian villager waits at the top of Vormir's Edge, at about 212 121 99. Nothing can hurt it except /kill and the void, and lightning doesn't turn it into a witch. Each trade works once:

Known problem with the maps

A map gets filled in a few seconds after it lands in your inventory, searching from the Overworld spawn. That works for the Sanctum and the Norse Village. The Morag Temple, Aether Chamber and Sanctuary are in other dimensions, so those three maps can come out blank.

The Soul Guardian Telephone can bring the Soul Guardian to you. If it goes missing, an operator can run /infinity soulguardian respawn.
